Start with a defined roofing scope
Before comparing payments, establish what you are paying for. A repair estimate should identify the area and defect being addressed. A replacement estimate should explain the roof covering, removal, decking arrangements, flashing and other included work.
Financing a vague scope makes it harder to compare value or plan for changes. Review roof repair and roof replacement to see the questions worth asking.
What to compare in a financing offer
| Item | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Amount financed | Does it match the approved roofing scope? |
| Annual percentage rate | What is the APR on the actual offer? |
| Fees | Are there origination, processing or other charges? |
| Term | How long will payments continue? |
| Total repayment | What will the project cost with financing included? |
| Promotion | What conditions apply, and what happens when it ends? |
| Payment schedule | When is the first payment due? |
| Early repayment | Is there a prepayment charge or other condition? |
Use the lender's written disclosures, not a calculator illustration or a general website headline, to compare offers.
Rates, approval and timing vary
Your available options depend on the provider's current programs and the information supplied in the application. A rate displayed in general advertising may not be your offered rate.
Do not assume that a particular credit score guarantees approval, that every applicant can put no money down or that funding will arrive by a fixed date. Confirm the actual terms before coordinating a construction payment around the expected funds.
Sterling Roofers is not the lender and does not make the lending decision.
A zero-percent promotion is not the same as deferred interest
The wording matters. Under a true zero-percent introductory APR arrangement, interest attributable to that promotional period is not charged simply because a balance remains afterward. A deferred-interest offer may add previously accrued interest if its conditions are not met.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau explains this distinction. Read the actual agreement; this explanation does not mean either type of promotion is available to you through the linked provider.
What about prequalification and a credit check?
Ask the provider what happens at each stage. Checking potential options, submitting a complete application and accepting an offer may have different credit-inquiry requirements.
Follow the disclosures shown for your application. Do not rely on a general promise that every step is a soft credit check or that no step can affect your credit.
Keep financial information with the provider
Use the provider's secure application for financial details. Do not put Social Security numbers, banking information or account credentials into the roofing consultation form.
Our roofing team needs the project information. The financing provider handles its own application, privacy disclosures and lending requirements.
Financing and insurance are different arrangements
A financing application is not an insurance claim, and loan approval does not establish insurance coverage. Likewise, a pending claim is not guaranteed funding for a construction contract.
Review your obligations before using financing while waiting for a claim decision. Our insurance-related roofing information explains the contractor's role; policy questions belong with the insurer.
How to get started
First, discuss the roof and obtain a scope suitable for the decision you need to make. Then open the financing provider's current options, review the disclosures and compare the total repayment alongside the cash project cost.
If the available offer does not fit your needs, do not assume you must accept it to receive a roofing estimate. Clarify the construction agreement and payment schedule before signing.

Financing questions
Is financing guaranteed?
No. Approval and available terms depend on the provider and applicant.
What credit score do I need?
The provider determines eligibility. This page does not publish a universal score requirement because programs and underwriting criteria can vary.
Is zero-percent financing available?
Review the current provider offers. A promotion, when available, may have eligibility conditions, deadlines and other terms. Do not assume it applies to every application.
Can a low monthly payment still cost more overall?
Yes. A longer repayment period, interest and fees can change total repayment. Compare the complete offer, not only the monthly amount.
Does viewing financing options book a roofing visit?
No. The financing provider and roofing appointment are separate. Use the phone-consultation page to discuss an assessment or estimate.
